Chapter 1 : The Birth of Sak Yant
Over 500 years ago in the jungles of Siam, Sak Yant was not called a “tattoo”.
It was called “Sak Lek” – The Steel Skin.
Thai warriors would walk for 7 days into the deep forest to find a Ruesi – The Hermit Master. They did not want decoration. They wanted to become immortal in battle.
The Ruesi sat in a cave. He held a long bamboo stick, sharpened for 3 days until the tip was like a needle. He dipped it into sacred black ink.
This ink was not normal ink. It was mixed from:
• Charcoal from a temple that was struck by lightning
• Venom of a cobra
• 108 sacred herbs from the jungle
• Holy water from 9 temples
• And ashes of ancient palm-leaf mantras
Chapter 2 : The Sacred Ritual
When the warrior lay down, the ritual began.
The Ruesi lit incense. The jungle went silent.
He started chanting in ancient Pali language: “Na Mo Pu Ta Ya, Na Ma Pa Ta”
With every poke of the bamboo – POK, POK, POK – he chanted one letter of the Yantra.
The warrior was forbidden to make a sound. The pain was the test. If he screamed, the Yant would have no power.
The chant was believed to push the power into the blood. So the skin would become hard like steel.
Chapter 3 : What Each Ancient Yant Means
Every line the Ruesi drew was a secret code of the universe:
1. Gao Yord (9 Peaks) – The Master Yant
Represents Mount Meru, where gods live. 9 peaks for protection from 9 directions. This was the first Yant every warrior must have. It is the crown of all Yants.
2. Hah Taew (5 Lines) – The 5 Blessings of Buddha
Line 1: Protection from enemies
Line 2: Good fortune and luck
Line 3: Success in life
Line 4: Charm and attraction
Line 5: Good luck in everything
3. Suea Koo (Twin Tigers) – The Power of the Jungle
For fearless power. In ancient times, only the strongest general could wear the Tiger. It is believed you get the soul of a tiger inside you.
4. Paed Tidt (8 Directions)
For travelers. No matter which of the 8 directions you go, you will be safe and return home alive.
Chapter 4 : From Ancient Jungle to Ajarn Fu Bangkok
This magic was never written in books. It was forbidden to write it.
It was passed from mouth to mouth, blood to blood, from Master to student for 500 years.
When Ayutthaya Kingdom fell in 1767, the masters moved to Wat Bang Phra. Wat Bang Phra became the world center of Sak Yant.
Ajarn Fu is a direct student of the Wat Bang Phra lineage.
